Volkan Okutan
About
Volkan Okutan combines 17+ years of technical expertise and innovation management in his role as Business Development and International Relations Manager at Entertech Istanbul Teknokent. A naval architect by training, he earned his bachelor’s from Yıldız Technical University (2005) and later completed his master’s at Istanbul University’s Institute of Marine Sciences (2017).
Volkan’s unique career journey began in shipyards (2005-2011), where he contributed to 15+ vessel construction projects as an engineer. He then transitioned to intellectual property, spending six years drafting 300+ patent specifications at leading patent offices. This technical-legal hybrid experience led him to university technology transfer offices (2017-2022), where he specialized in bringing academic innovations to market.
Since joining Entertech in February 2022, Volkan leverages his multifaceted background to:
- Develop international partnerships bridging engineering and entrepreneurship
- Guide startups through technology commercialization processes
- Create cross-border opportunities for Turkish innovators
- Translate complex technical concepts into viable business strategies
His rare combination of hands-on engineering experience, IP expertise, and technology transfer knowledge makes him uniquely positioned to support deep tech ventures in scaling globally.
